Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
Don’t Be Controlled by Your Feelings
Scripture
Let’s face it, our emotions have a mind of their own, and if they are not controlled, they will control us. Our emotions are never going to completely go away, but we must learn to manage them. We must learn to do what is right even when we don’t feel like doing it.
You see, when we are controlled by our emotions, we are giving Satan control. All he needs to do is give us a bad feeling and we behave accordingly. That’s why we need to learn to live beyond our feelings. We can forgive those who hurt us if we are willing to do so. We can pray for our enemies whether we feel like it or not. We can talk to people or refrain from talking unkindly about them.
You can’t wait to feel right to do right—you do right, and the feelings come later. They may still fluctuate, but your emotions will improve as you persist in being obedient to God’s will. Whether you feel like it or not, be quick to forgive, and God will bless you in incredible ways.
