God’s Peace Is for You

Scripture

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid - John 14:27 (NIV)

As God’s children, peace is our inheritance from Jesus—it’s part of who we are in Him. And that peace “which transcends all understanding” (Philippians 4:7) is greater than anything this world can possibly offer. God wants you to experience it every single day of your life. That kind of peace is found only in a relationship with Him. It’s based on keeping our focus on Jesus and pursuing an intimate relationship with Him. Jesus is the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6), and as we spend time with Him in His Word, through prayer or by simply sitting quietly in His presence, He imparts His peace and rest to us.

No matter what you’re going through today—no matter how stressful things are or regardless of how things may look for the future—always remember that God loves you. He is your Source of peace and rest, and He’s your answer for the stress and pressures of life.

Tip

“He [Jesus] is the Lord of peace and as you surrender your heart and life to Him, you will experience the peace that passes understanding.”
— Joyce Meyer

Study Suggestion

Write down the things you are stressed out, frustrated or anxious about—things that steal your peace. Then crumple up the paper. Physically “cast” those things into the trash can as a symbol of casting those cares on God (1 Peter 5:7).
