The Antidote for Fear

Scripture

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. - 2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)

Everyone struggles with fear to some degree. But God has a good plan for your life, and He doesn’t want you to be tormented by fear or let it hold you back from your destiny. His will is for you to be confident in His love, trusting Him to take care of you all along the way.

First John 4:18 says, There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror!...Understanding God’s love is the antidote for fear. God wants you to know just how much He loves you and desires to help you. He wants you to press forward with boldness and do all that He puts in your heart...even if you have to do it afraid.

Study Suggestion

Use the Word of God to fight your fears by finding scriptures that remind you of God’s love. Then write them down in a place where you can see them when you need to. You can even say them out loud as you fight your fear with God’s Word.
