How to Think When Life Happens

Scripture

I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] - Philippians 4:13 (AMP)

Every single day, we have thousands of opportunities to decide how we are going to think about what is happening to us and around us. It’s safe to say there are many times we respond out of habit—without thinking. We make instantaneous decisions in response to the good or bad things that happen to us every day—whether it’s sick kids, getting stuck in traffic, or other serious issues that threaten to overwhelm us.

During tough times, it’s easy to think, I can’t do this—it’s just too hard. Watch for that type of thinking and when you recognize it, remember to replace it with a God-inspired thought like, I can do whatever I need to do because God is with me. This too shall pass.

How to Have a Think Session

Joyce shares how we can renew our minds through devoting ourselves to a routine of thinking God-thoughts on purpose.

Tip

“Exchange your ‘I can’t’ thoughts for ‘I can’ thoughts and begin to say, ‘I can do whatever I need to do in life because God strengthens me..”
— Joyce Meyer

Study Suggestion

Which “I can’t” belief in your life do you need to exchange for an “I can”? Write down some things you are going to put into practice to help you make the exchange.
