God Is Your Source of Hope

Scripture

Constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ], steadfast and patient in distress, devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength]. - Romans 12:12 (AMP)

Hope is the confident expectation that something good is going to happen. It’s closely related to our faith and what we believe. When we dare to hope, it floods our life with joy and peace. And when we get to know God—really know Him—it fills us with hope and confidence because we realize He’s greater than any situation we will ever encounter.

God wants us to be full of hope—believing, expecting, and anticipating great things from Him. In fact, the Bible says He is the “God of hope,” full of mercy and new beginnings (Romans 15:13). This week, challenge yourself to expect good things from God no matter what your circumstances may be.

Tip

“Hope is only as strong as its source. That’s why the foundation of our hope must be God and the promises found in His Word. If God is not the source, hope is just a wishful thought, a momentary respite.”
— Joyce Meyer

Study Suggestion

Make a list of all the things you are hoping for today. In your words, your actions, your attitude, your relationships—think about ways to choose hope. Select a scripture that reminds you about God’s hope and post it in various places where you’ll see it displayed. Then spend time thinking about those words until they take root in your heart.
