Now while they were on their way, it occurred that Jesus entered a certain village, and a woman named Martha received and welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord’s feet and was listening to His teaching. But Martha [overly occupied and too busy] was distracted with much serving; and she came up to Him and said, Lord, is it nothing to You that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me [to lend a hand and do her part along with me]! But the Lord replied to her by saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; There is need of only one or but [i]a few things. Mary has chosen the good portion [that which is to her advantage], which shall not be taken away from her. - Luke 10:38-42 (AMPC)
Eliminate Distractions
Scripture
There is a lot of noise in the world around us, and one reason we sometimes have difficulty hearing God’s voice in our heart is because we’re taking in too many different messages. One of the greatest things you can do to help block out some of the noise around you is to spend regular, set-apart time with God.
Take time to be still in God’s presence and listen for His still, small voice speaking to your heart. Study His Word and pour out your heart to Him in prayer. Get away from all of the distractions of the world. As you do, you are creating the perfect atmosphere for God to speak. You will increase your faith and find it easier to believe what God is saying to you more than you believe what you think or feel or what your circumstances look like.

Tip
“If you know you are easily distracted, set some guidelines for yourself. Get enough sleep at night so you don’t oversleep the next morning and start tomorrow on the right track.”
