Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. - Colossians 3:13 (ESV)
Why Should I Forgive?
Scripture
If we are not careful, we can view unforgiveness as a weapon—as a way to get back at those who have hurt us. But when we choose to hold a grudge and refuse to forgive, we hurt ourselves so much more than anyone else.
I know it’s so much easier to talk about forgiving other people than it is to do it. But we have to remember that God always has our very best in mind. In fact, when people ask me why they should forgive someone who has deeply hurt them, the first reason I give is, “Because God says so!”
Obeying God’s Word should be our greatest motivation to forgive. We’re not always going to understand exactly why the Lord instructs us to do certain things, but we need to reach a point where we trust that He knows best. Through a lot of experience, I’ve learned that my life is always better when I follow God’s will instead of my own will.
How Do You REALLY Forgive?
Joyce explains why making the decision to forgive is the first step to moving forward in Christ.
