Guard your steps and focus on what you are doing as you go to the house of God... - Ecclesiastes 5:1 (AMP)
Taming a Wild and Wandering Mind
Scripture
Webster’s dictionary defines the word wander as: “1. To move about aimlessly: ROAM. 2. To go by an indirect route or at no set pace: AMBLE. 3. To proceed in an irregular course or action: MEANDER…. 5. To think or express oneself unclearly or incoherently.”1
The enemy wants us to have an undisciplined mind. He wants us to passively accept whatever lies he tells us. When my mind was undisciplined, I was indecisive and insecure. Maybe you’re like me and you struggle with an undisciplined mind. Ask God to help you, and then refuse to allow your mind to think about whatever it pleases.
With God’s help, you can learn to keep your focus on what you’re doing and choose to agree with God’s Word and His way of doing things. It wasn’t easy, and sometimes I still have relapses, but I understand how important it is not to allow my mind to go wherever it wishes, whenever it desires.
- Webster’s II, s.v. “wander”
