Even after people walk away or get free of the circumstances that brought them pain, they are still a mess in their soul. The truth is, their problems don’t suddenly end when their circumstances change; the wounds are still there, in their mind and emotions.
The good news is, God can heal us so completely that we reach a place where we bear no evidence whatsoever of the pain and trauma we’ve been through.
As Joyce shares in her testimony, all things are possible with God, and no matter how deep our pain or how long we’ve suffered with it, total healing and restoration can happen in our lives.
Jesus wants to heal you everywhere you hurt! There’s no pain that’s too bad, big or deep for Him to mend.
In fact, God wants to use the painful, unfair things that have happened in your life to make you the person He’s created you to be. You don’t have to ever settle for a second-rate life or believe that you’ll always be “damaged goods.”
In Daniel 3:26-27, we read an amazing account of how God delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from certain death, and in the end, there was no evidence of the evil circumstances they endured:
…Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire. And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king's counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them — Daniel 3:26-27 (ESV)
Notice this says there was no sign of harm from the fire…not even the smell of fire was on them!
God can do the same thing for you, but you have to make some decisions to…
- Stop dragging around the ashes of your painful experiences.
- Give up bad attitudes and expect God’s goodness in your life.
- Refuse to give in to self-pity, because you can’t be both pitiful and powerful.
- Let go of any identity or victim mentality tied to your painful past.
Let’s go back to Daniel 3:26. The first part of that verse says, Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!" Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire.
King Nebuchadnezzar called the three men to “come out, and come here!” And today, Jesus says the same to you…
Come out of your mess…the pit of depression and despair…your pity party…the place you’ve parked your life.
Let go of everything that’s ever soured your life—whether it’s something that was done to you or something you’ve done—and let Jesus Christ make you whole!
