But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. — 2 Peter 3:18 (NIV)

What do righteousness, sanctification, and baptism mean?
Living Out Your Faith
Scripture
Though there are others we could highlight, here are the three we’d like to take a look at:
Righteousness
The moment you were saved, things between you and God were made right. Once you truly receive that love, you identify it’s not about your power, strength, or ability, but all about His. So, you are made right with God on the inside and now you’re learning how to walk right with God in your everyday life.
Sanctification
This takes it one step further. After you understand it’s God's righteousness and not anything you’ve done in your own strength, the way in which you change and grow (over time and day by day) is called sanctification. It’s the daily process of becoming less like the sins that used to control you and more like Jesus who has set you free.
Baptism
For many followers of Jesus, baptism is the outward display of your commitment to Him. It’s likely that the church you attend or group of believers you associate with does water baptism. Baptism represents the idea of leaving behind your old life (as you go under the water), and being raised into the fullness of all Jesus has for you (as you come up out of the water). Romans 6:3-4 would be good to look at.
In addition, take a few minutes to read Matthew 3 and pray about what getting baptized would mean to you…
We understand that these terms may be new to you; however, God’s Word promises that if you lack understanding and ask Him for help, He will absolutely give it.
As we wrap up week six, it's hard to believe that we’re more than halfway through "Building Your New Life with Christ," and that’s incredible! And next week we’ll keep it going with the question: Why is it so important to trust God?
