Should I feel any different?

Feelings Are Fickle, Faith Is Not

Scripture

My High Priest (talking of Jesus) is not one who cannot feel sympathy for my weakness. On the contrary, I have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that I am, but did not sin. So I have confidence, then, and approach God’s throne, where there is grace. There I will receive mercy and find grace to help me just when I need it.Hebrews 4:15-16 (GNT)

It should be of great comfort to know that Jesus, the one who you’ve given your life to, totally and completely understands everything you’ve gone through and will go through. Your feelings and emotions are no different. What you have to realize is that though your feelings are fickle and can change on a dime, your faith and trust in Jesus is not. Rather than responding with feelings, having a relationship with Jesus means responding with faith—and faith is all about what you’re learning as you dive into the Bible.

Something to try this week

In tough moments where you feel the urge to respond hastily, ask yourself the question, Is this how faith would respond? Now that I’ve started reading the Bible, is this how I should respond biblically? Then take a few minutes to write it out.

In order to respond biblically, it’s important to first know who you are in Christ. Not sure what that means? Check out these scriptures….

Finally, I hope you realize what incredible strides you’re making in building your new life with Christ! No matter how you feel, know that as long as you’re determined and committed to walking it out, Jesus will always be by your side. Don’t quit, keep going, and we’ll see you next week.
