Brinner!

Give It a Chance

Scripture

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

If you don’t know about the amazing idea that is breakfast for dinner, stop right now, turn to your parents and say, “We must have BRINNER tonight!” Now, of course, say that as sweet as possible and be sure to use the words, “Please” and “I love you” a lot, but breakfast for dinner is awesome! Even if you’ve never done it!

But just because something is different, it doesn’t mean it isn’t going to be great! That’s the deal with new stuff. At first, you aren’t sure if you will like it, but you should always give it a chance.

Think about it: You love breakfast! Sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs with tons of cheese…toast…and let’s not forget about French toast with maple syrup. Yum! So, are breakfast foods for dinner new? Yes. But does it change the fact that you love them? No!

The same is true in your life. Just because something is new, doesn’t mean it’s not going to be good. When you learned who Jesus was and you asked Him to live in your heart, He made you a new person. God took all the bad stuff away and your life changed for the better! So, you are new, too!

So, what does all this mean? It means no matter what happens today, be willing to try something new. Whether it’s learning a new skill or making a friend at school, give it a try. You never know what cool new thing God has in store for you!

Kid Prayer: God, thank You for making me a new person. Thank You that I can get excited about trying new stuff!

Parent Prayer: God, give me the grace to be OK with who I am today, and the ability to learn new things that I’ll need in the future.
