…I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the curses; therefore choose life….

Sometimes we complain about things that we could change if we would stop feeling sorry for ourselves long enough to do something about them. For example, if we are lonely, we can make the effort to be a friend to someone else. We can choose to be free or remain in bondage to self-pity. We can choose to be pitiful or powerful.

Psalm 25:12–14 (AMPC) says, Who is the man who reverently fears and worships the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose. He himself shall dwell at ease, and his offspring shall inherit the land. The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.

Prayer of the Day: Lord, help me trade self-pity for action and trust. Teach me to follow Your ways, to choose power over passivity, and to walk closely in fellowship with You, amen.
