How You’re Helping Women Find Hope Again @tag2>

Since 2007, Hand of Hope, Joyce Meyer Ministries World Missions, has partnered with Crisis Aid International to rescue women and children from the horrors of sex trafficking. At our safe home in East Africa, trafficking survivors have a safe place to live, heal, grow, and even receive training for new career paths.
Twenty-year-old Netsanet is one of many precious young women whose lives have been changed by the care of this amazing home. We want to share her story in her very own words.
“I grew up in a small rural area, part of a farming family. Life was hard, and when I was five, I was sent to live with another family who promised to take care of me. Instead, I faced constant abuse and was forced into hard labor. The heavy work left me with a severe back deformity, and for seven years, I suffered in silence.
“At 12, I ran away, searching for freedom. But my condition made it hard to find work, and I ended up in a liquor house in Addis Ababa, trapped in a cycle of exploitation and abuse. One night, I was drugged and endured unimaginable abuse and rape, powerless yet fully aware. The following morning brought further humiliation and blame, leaving me more broken than ever. This shattered me completely.
“A kind man eventually helped me escape, but when I discovered he was married, I was left pregnant and alone. After giving birth, I wandered the streets, hungry, homeless, and hopeless.
“Then, I heard about the Hand of Hope Refuge Home and decided to seek help. At the home, my life changed completely. I found safety, love, and the chance to rebuild my life. I’m now learning hairdressing, receiving counseling, and caring for my daughter, who is thriving with proper nutrition and care.
“I once believed my back deformity was a curse, but now I know it isn’t. I feel hopeful for the future, knowing God hasn’t abandoned me. I’m determined to complete my training, work hard, and build a stable life for my child.
“I am so grateful for the support that has given me this second chance.”
