Daniel Meyer: There's a Secret to His Joy @tag1>
Meet the CEO of U.S. Operations for Joyce Meyer Ministries @tag2>
Daniel Meyer is many things—a husband, father, avid snowboarder…and someone who’s “all in” when it comes to enjoying life. But don’t let his contagious laughter fool you! Daniel is also a conqueror who welcomes every challenge and never ever gives up.
He’s also Dave and Joyce’s youngest son and CEO of U.S. Operations for Joyce Meyer Ministries. He oversees the ministry headquarters, which employs nearly 400 people in Fenton, Missouri.
In his role as CEO, Daniel has infused his fresh ideas and creative leadership into almost every aspect of the organization, positioning the ministry to reach the next generation and beyond.
Let’s rewind. As Dave and Joyce’s youngest, Daniel sort of grew up with the ministry. Throughout his school years, he frequently worked part time to assemble and package Joyce’s teaching resources that were mailed around the world. He also traveled with his parents to Joyce’s conferences. He was raised in this world of sharing Christ and loving people.
After graduation, Daniel began working full time with Joyce Meyer Ministries and managed a national antiviolence program. Touring in high schools across the United States, he and his team reached out to the youth with an innovative and powerful message that captured their attention and addressed the issues they faced every single day.
Daniel’s education and training in media eventually paid off and prepared him for his next role as a program editor in the ministry’s broadcast department. Having listened to his mom’s teachings for most of his life, he knew them inside out and was perfectly suited to help produce the show that was already reaching millions of people worldwide.
Then, in 2004, as Media Division Manager, Daniel was instrumental in updating the TV program for the next generation. The “new look” included an updated studio design, sleeker production, and even a new name—Enjoying Everyday Life. It was a turning point for the ministry, which was now poised to cast a wider net than ever before.
“Reaching a new generation requires us to adapt,” Daniel says. “We don’t ever change the message—the Gospel message will forever remain the same. But the opportunities we have to spread that message are ever-changing.”
Over the years, Daniel’s tenacious spirit and commitment to excellence has continued to keep Joyce Meyer Ministries on the cutting edge of technology in order to help as many people as possible.
Whether it’s updating ministry systems, producing Joyce’s conferences, building a state-of-the-art website, reaching a larger audience through social media, or maintaining high production standards for our Enjoying Everyday Life TV program, he believes every effort is ultimately worth it because it allows us to share the Gospel in greater ways.
“If we want to influence more people, then we need to stay relevant and communicate in ways people prefer,” Daniel says. “For example, I never thought I would hear my dad use the word ‘selfie’ or see my mom share a message using Facebook Live, but I am so glad I have! It means we are communicating the love of Christ with new people in so many unique ways.”
When it comes to sharing the message of enjoying everyday life, there is no greater ambassador. Known for being fun and lighthearted, Daniel’s attitude is contagious, and he brings joy everywhere he goes. He’s also quick to tell people where that joy comes from:
“When we bless others, it brings us joy,” he says. “My parents set the example. For years, I watched them be good to people. I witnessed the impact it made and the happiness it brought to our family. I believe love is contagious. People see the goodness of God, and they want that for their own lives as well.”
For Daniel, that love begins at home. Daniel and his wife, Nicol, are parents to four young boys (who are also adventure-seekers!), and there is never a dull moment. Whether it’s hiking, playing ball, or skiing with their dad, they love to laugh and play. And they also love their grandma and grandpa, Joyce and Dave, who they visit often.
One of Daniel and Nicol’s goals is to pass along that tenacious, never-give-up spirit to their children…and what it truly means to be “more than a conqueror” (see Romans 8:37).
“We all fall down—that’s the easy part,” Daniel says. “But whether or not you can conquer the fear of falling again is the part that will define who you are and who you will become. It’s a lesson I’ve learned many times in my life, and it’s something I want my boys to learn.”
From early on, Daniel Meyer has had a big vision for Joyce Meyer Ministries. But he says the heart of this ministry and everything it does begin with God…and the people He has brought alongside to fulfill the mission.
“Our partners mean everything to us,” Daniel says. “They are Joyce Meyer Ministries, and without them, we wouldn’t be able to do much. But something incredible happens when a lot of people decide to do what they can—to pray and give as God leads them. That adds up, and then together we are able to make a huge impact in the world. We can never thank our partners enough.”
Yes, Daniel is a husband, parent, and CEO, and he takes each role very seriously (although you’re not going to find him in a suit and tie very often). But at the heart of everything he does is a passion to enjoy his life to the fullest—whether it’s reaching people for Jesus, snowboarding down a big, snowy mountain, or simply laughing with his kids.
Because there’s a secret to his joy, and he wants to share it with the world.
