Blessed is the one…whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. - Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)
Delight in God's Word
It's Full of Truth, Power, and So Much More
Scripture
According to today’s passage, those who delight themselves in God’s law, meaning His ways and His teachings, will be blessed and fruitful. In addition, verse 3 says that they prosper in what they do. In the Amplified Bible, verse 3 indicates that the word prospers means “comes to maturity.”
To have a life of blessing, fruitfulness, and maturity in God sounds wonderful to me, and I pray that this is the type of life you desire to live. And you can expect to have this kind of life if you delight yourself in God’s Word.
The only way to delight in something is to let it fill your thoughts. I encourage you to spend time studying and meditating on God’s Word, rolling it over and over in your mind. It is full of truth, full of power, full of wisdom, and full of promises for you.
Thinking about God’s Word will strengthen you, because it will not only enable you to know God’s will, but it will also teach you how to do God’s will. It will increase your peace and your confidence, and fill you with the faith and hope you need to live the blessed, productive, mature life God has created and called you to live.
