Rejoice!

Joy Can Heal and Strengthen Us

Scripture

Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, gladden yourselves in Him]; again I say, Rejoice! - Philippians 4:4 (AMPC)

It’s the final day, and I’m so glad that you have chosen to join me in this study! I pray that you will recognize, receive and live in God’s strength in greater ways than ever before. As we end the study, I want to share with you one of the primary ways that God desires to strengthen us—through His joy.

Satan works tirelessly to steal our joy because he knows that God is happy when He sees us happy. Our joy brings delight to His heart. We are God’s children, and just as we are glad to see our children happy, He is glad to see us happy. He wants us to enjoy every moment He gives us!

God’s Word teaches us that joy brings healing and strength to us (Nehemiah 8:10; Proverbs 17:22). Worry, discouragement, and fear zap our strength and weaken the body, so it is no wonder the enemy does all he can do to prevent us from being joyful.

I encourage you to make a decision to enjoy this day and every day of your life, no matter what difficulties life may bring. Being sad won’t make your troubles go away, but choosing to focus on God’s love for you and what He’s doing in your life will make your heart happy any day.

Prayer

Father, help me truly realize the value of joy. Your Word says that the joy of the Lord is my strength (Nehemiah 8:10). So, I’m praying that You’ll remind me to make joy a priority in my life and to be watchful against the temptation to be discouraged and sad. In good times and bad, help me to focus on You and rejoice in all of the good things You do for me each and every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
