You’re Stronger Than You Think

God Will Give You the Strength to Handle Anything

Scripture

I can do all things through him [Christ] who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 (NIV)

When life gets challenging or something negative occurs, there’s the temptation to fear the worst. The enemy wants us to feel overwhelmed and believe it’s too much for us to handle. However, when the unexpected happens, I want to remind you what God says: You are stronger than you think.

Philippians 4:13 says, I can do all things through him [Christ] who gives me strength. This means God will give you the strength to handle anything that comes your way as you trust Him. What you’re experiencing now may seem overwhelming and too big for you to handle, but it’s not too big for God!

One of the greatest ways we stay strong and battle fear is to choose positive thoughts that agree with God’s Word. Proverbs 23:7 (AMPC) says, As he thinks in his heart, so is he.... I often say it this way: “Where the mind goes, the man follows.”

If you choose to dwell on negative thoughts, it will just drag you down and make you more fearful and discouraged. However, when you choose to focus on positive, faith-filled thoughts and agree with the good things God wants to do in your life, then it will lift you up. You’ll soon notice faith and hope rising on the inside of you.

When “life happens” and fear strikes, choose on purpose to think things like: God loves me. I don’t have to fear because He will never leave me or forsake me. He has a great plan for my future, and He can even make a way where there seems to be no way (Romans 8:38-39; Deuteronomy 31:6; Jeremiah 29:11; Isaiah 43:19).

It helps to remember that God is not surprised by anything that is happening in your life. He knew ahead of time, and He already has a plan to help you. So, whatever you are dealing with today, know that the Greater One (God) lives on the inside of you and, together, there is nothing you can’t handle (1 John 4:4).

Pray: “Father, thank You for giving me the strength to battle fear and deal with anything that comes my way. Help me to dwell on what Your Word says and focus on the good things You are going to do in my situation. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
