Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. – Psalm 37:5 (AMPC)
Trusting God in Uncertain Times
He Is Always Working on Our Behalf
Scripture
Over 50 years ago, during the early years of my marriage to Dave, my mother-in-law gave me a Bible. Inside the front of it, she wrote the following scripture…
Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.
It’s Psalm 37:5 (AMPC), and at that time, I had no idea just how much that scripture would come to mean to me. Over time, as I got to know God’s love and faithfulness firsthand, He taught me that I really could trust Him—in good times, bad times, and everything in-between.
When we’re worried about a situation and we can’t quite see how everything’s going to work out, it’s easy to want to question God or become negative. However, I often say that trust requires unanswered questions. It requires us to fully lean on God, believing He is always working on our behalf.
I spent years asking, “Why, God, why?” until I finally got the message: We don’t have to figure everything out and know all of the answers—we just have to know “the One who knows.”
Whatever you are facing today, remember that God is always on your side and He has a good plan for your life. When you’re feeling scared or anxious, not knowing what the future holds, God is still in control. And the four greatest words you can say at that moment are, “God, I trust You.”
Pray: “Father, thank You that all things are possible with You. In the midst of my circumstances, when fearful thoughts come, help me to believe, expect, and anticipate the good things You are going to do in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
