Don’t Be Discouraged with Yourself

And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.
If you feel that you are not where you should be spiritually, you are not alone. I think most people can easily become discouraged with themselves when they compare their behavior with that of Jesus or even other more mature believers.
When we study the Bible, or perhaps read a good book about Christian character, God’s goal is to urge us forward, not to make us feel condemned because we have not arrived yet. God is working in you! He will continue doing so until Jesus returns. There is no need to compare yourself with anyone else.
Prayer of the Day: Lord, thank You for Your patient work in me. I trust that You’re not finished yet, and I refuse to compare myself to others—only to follow Your lead. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
