Present Yourself to God and Then Relax @tag1>
Adapted from Hearing from God Each Morning
The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.
I believe one of the biggest problems facing people today is the busy, hurried, frantic, stressful lifestyles we live. Busyness makes hearing from God very challenging, but today's verse promises that God will quiet us with His love. One of the best favors you can do for yourself is to find a place where you can be still and quiet. Hearing God requires times of quiet solitude.
If you really want to hear His still, small voice, you will have to be still. You need to go somewhere and be alone with Him. Jesus said, …Go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. (Matthew 6:6, NKJV). A few minutes of peace and quiet won't always do the job; you also need extended periods of quiet to seek God.
It is important to be able to spend time with God free from distractions and interruptions. When you are alone with God, don't think about your problems. Ask for His wisdom and strength. Ask for a refreshing and renewal. Tell Him you want to know what He has for your life. Ask Him to tell you what He wants you to do. Ask Him to tell you what He doesn't want you to do. Present yourself to God and listen. You are honoring Him by going to Him. You will get an answer from Him. If you don't hear Him speak during your time alone with Him, don't worry about it. You have done your part by seeking Him and He will guide you as you go through life.
Prayer of the Day: Father, I present myself to You now. Quiet my heart, calm my mind, and let me rest in Your love. Speak to me, and give me ears to hear, amen
