I have fought the good (worthy, honorable, and noble) fight, I have finished the race, I have kept (firmly held) the faith.

The apostle Paul referred to life as a race. I think most of us want to run our race well and be everything God intends for us to be…and to enjoy it along the way.

Great joy comes with finishing the race God has called you to run. Enjoy the journey and keep your eyes on the prize. Jesus endured the cross for the joy of obtaining the prize before Him (see Hebrews 12:2).

As Paul neared the end of his journey on earth, he wrote that he had “finished the race” (see 2 Timothy 4:7). In this verse, he was basically saying: I have been through a lot. But I am still here. The enemy tried to get me to quit my race, but he did not succeed!

At the end of your life, you want to be able to say the same thing. Don’t get discouraged. Don’t quit. Run your race well!

Prayer of the Day: Father, help me to run my race with endurance and joy, not just today, but every day. Strengthen me to overcome every obstacle I face, keep my eyes on You, and enjoy the journey, amen.
