A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. - Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)
Wisdom Loves on Purpose
Love Is Seen in How We Treat People
Scripture
Anytime a person is in need and you have the power to meet that need, it is wise to do so. The way to overcome evil is with good (Romans 12:21), and one of the best times to do good is when your enemies are attacking you.
When we are under attack, we often withdraw and waste time feeling sorry for ourselves. But we can defeat our enemy, the devil, and whomever he works through by practicing what I call “the warfare of love.” I believe love is a form of spiritual warfare because the enemy wants us to hate one another and be divided. He wants our love to grow cold and dull, but we can keep it active through practicing it daily.
Love is seen in how we treat people, and wisdom instructs us not to accuse people without reason when they have done us no harm (Proverbs 3:30). We need to be merciful toward people and not quick to judge or criticize them. To paraphrase John Wesley, a powerful minister in eighteenth-century England, let me urge you to do as much good as you can, to as many people as you can, as often as you can, and you will experience great joy and many other blessings from God.
Ask yourself: Who can I show God’s love to today?
