Does something right now seem too big for you to handle? If so, here are some tips to help you refocus on God’s faithfulness and His amazing plan for your future.

In Case of Emergency…

…do this first! When fearful or anxious thoughts attack, take a moment to stop and pray. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Our prayers are powerful (James 5:16)! And when we take our cares and worries to God and spend time with Him, we magnify Him or make Him “bigger” in our eyes. When we do, all of our problems and concerns suddenly look smaller.

The Antidote for Fear

First John 4:18 (NIV) says, There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…. God wants us to know just how much He loves us and desires to help us. Think about it: Most parents would do anything for their children. If they feel that way, how do you think God feels about us? And unlike us, He has no limitations. Nothing is impossible with Him—He can help us in every situation, on every occasion.

Take time to get “rooted and grounded in God’s love.” Read and meditate on scriptures like: Romans 8:35-39; Jeremiah 31:3; Isaiah 43:4-5.

Don’t Dread

Dread is expecting to have an unpleasant experience—the exact opposite of hope. Some people dread their way through the day…whether it’s work, a traffic jam, dishes, or laundry. However, God wants us to be positive, hopeful, and expecting His goodness around every corner!

Isaiah 30:18 (AMPC) says, …The Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you...that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you.... When that feeling of dread kicks in, choose a hopeful attitude instead, believing that God has good things in store for your future. Say things like, “God is taking care of me—I believe something good is going to happen!” (Jeremiah 29:11)

God Never Gives Up

God never promised us a trouble-free life, but He does promise to never leave us or forsake us. Hebrews 13:5 (AMPC) says, …For He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support…[Assuredly not!].

When you’re going through difficult times, it’s important to remember that God is right there with you, and you can trust Him to help you through it. You can take comfort knowing that He has His eye on you, and He is already working behind the scenes to help you (Romans 8:38-39; Psalm 33:18). God won’t give up on you…so don’t give up on yourself!

This Too Shall Pass

When things are difficult, it can feel like things will never change! But it’s helpful to remember that things will change...a new season is right around the corner.

Are you waiting for a breakthrough? Take a moment to pray:

“God, thank You for the strength to make it through this season. I know it won’t last forever and that You are with me. Help me to choose faith-filled thoughts and attitudes that will bring peace to the situation and remind me that great days are ahead. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
