Shabronda is one of thousands who's made a commitment to study the Word 30 minutes each day. Here's how it has changed her:

In January 2015, I made a commitment to begin reading God’s Word for at least 30 minutes every day. My youngest daughter was also home visiting from college, so she decided to do it with me.

I just read and read, and I kept up my commitment for an entire year, making my way through the Bible. I’m still reading today!

One day along the way, my daughter asked me, “How do you study the Bible?” I said, “I don’t know, but we’re going to find out!”

So, I ordered a study Bible from Joyce Meyer Ministries—it even came with a DVD on how to study. I began to read and write things down. I prayed for God to help me remember what I read and to etch it all into my heart and mind.

Now that I have established a habit of reading and studying God’s Word, I don’t ever want to be without it! It changes you—it makes you want to be a better person.

It also makes you want to bring other people in and talk to them about it. Since I began reading, both of my daughters have also made a commitment to read the Bible.

One day at work, a coworker approached me and asked, “What are you doing again?” So I talked to a couple of them and shared my story about how I started reading God’s Word and what a change it has made. I believe they have also begun reading the Bible as well.

I encourage everyone to do what it takes to make some time for God’s Word. I did it, and I’m just an everyday person. I work every day, come home, and have other things to do. But I can tell you it’s really made a difference in my life.

Today, I continue to spend at least 30 minutes a day in the Word. It’s turned into a passion. That’s what it does. It gets in you, and you don’t want to stop...you just want to know more and more.
