…But one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.

Perhaps you have enjoyed a great year, or perhaps it has been a difficult one, but either way, it is ending, and a new year is in front of you. I am sure we can all look back at this past year and find things we regret, but mere regret can be self-defeating. The better thing to do is learn from the past. Let it educate you for the future. At the end of a year, I enjoy going over my calendar for the year and remembering the things I did. Some of the memories are pleasant, but I also find things I now see were a waste of time or things that I wish I had not done. I enjoy the good memories and try to learn from the bad ones.

It is important that we don’t take this past year into the new one. Your future has no room for your past. If you did something good, look forward to doing something better, and if you did something bad, determine to never do it again.

Be sure to enter the new year with a positive, expectant attitude. I believe God has good plans for all of us and we can be excited about finding out what they are!

Prayer of the Day: Father, thank You for this year. Thank You for guiding me through it and giving me the grace to enter the new year with enthusiasm and expectation.
