Choose to Believe, Even When You Don’t Understand @tag1>
Adapted from Mornings with God
So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.
God often gives us faith for things our minds can’t seem to grasp. The mind wants to understand everything—the why, when, and how of situations. When God doesn’t give us understanding or insight into certain things, we are tempted to refuse to believe. When we walk with Him, sometimes we sense things in our hearts, but our minds fight against what we know because they don’t understand. I choose to believe what God’s Word says and what I believe He speaks to my heart, even if I don’t understand why, when, or how it will come to pass in my life.
The devil finds many ways to keep us from moving forward into all the good things God wants to do in and through our lives. He can be creative and persistent as he tries to keep us from moving forward. But Jesus came to earth to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). In addition, He has given us the Holy Spirit as our Helper (John 14:26). He will always help us do what God calls us to do and be who God has created us to be. And as today’s scripture teaches us, He even intercedes (pleads) for us.
With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can choose to believe everything God wants us to believe, even when we don’t understand it, knowing that God always intends the very best for us.
Prayer of the Day: Father, I choose to believe what You say, even when I don’t understand. Holy Spirit, help me trust Your heart and do all that You call me to do, amen.
