Invite God to Search You @tag1>
Adapted from Daily Devotions from Psalms
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Would you be willing to ask God to search your heart and see if there is anything in you that is offensive to Him, even one anxious thought?
In order to invite God to search us, we must be confident in His love for us and should want His correction in any area that is not pleasing to Him. Before I understood how much God loves me, when the Holy Spirit convicted me of sin, I felt bad and guilty about what I had done. But now I welcome His conviction because I don’t want to do anything that displeases Him. I realize that, even with my faults, He still loves me.
I also realize that God's correction is an act of love, not displeasure, toward me. I encourage you to invite God to examine your heart and let you know if anything needs to change. If so, repent, and ask Him to help you change it. Hebrews 12:6 says that the Lord disciplines those He loves, and Proverbs 3:12 says, the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in (NIV).
Never feel bad when God corrects you. Instead, thank Him that He loves you too much to leave you in your sin.
Prayer of the Day: Father, thank You for taking time to correct me when I sin and offend You. I am truly sorry for those times and I invite Your correction.
