Exercise has an astonishing effect on stress and depression, and it promotes all-around good health. I’ve read that a half hour of moderate exercise a day is as effective in relieving mild depression as some antidepressants. Doctors and dieticians agree—exercise is good for the body!

How does exercise do this? One way is by triggering the release of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that are responsible for good moods. Perhaps the brain does this to compensate for the sore muscles exercise can cause. No one knows for sure.

Whatever the reason, it is another one of God’s ways to care for our bodies—and that’s all we really need to know. If you’re not making time each day to get some exercise, maybe it’s time to reevaluate your schedule.

Prayer of the Day: Thank You, Lord, for the body You have given me. Please help me prioritize my health and well-being by making time for exercise each day. And thank You for providing us with ways to care for our bodies and promote good health.
