When You Don’t Know What to Do @tag1>
Adapted from Daily Devotions from Psalms
Needing to make a decision and not knowing what to do can easily lead to confusion, which is not from God (1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJV). Proverbs 3:5 says we are not to lean on our own understanding but to trust the Lord with all our heart and mind (AMPC).
If we trust God with our mind, then our thoughts will be filled with hope, not frustration. Proverbs 3:6 goes on to say, In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths (AMPC).
During times of indecision, try to quiet your mind and see what is in your heart, because that is where you’ll find your true desire and passion. After praying and waiting on God, you may have to step out to find out what you are to do. Sometimes the only way to know is to move toward something and see if God opens the door and you have peace about it. If not, at least you have learned what not to do. Many people do not know what the right thing is until they see what fits and what they like.
Another thing that helps is considering everything involved in what you are thinking about doing. You may want a new car, but if you don’t want to make payments every month for several years, making the purchase is not wise.
Prayer of the Day: Father, I want to make decisions that put me in the center of Your will. Help me and guide me each step of the way. Help me not to be so afraid of doing the wrong thing that I end up doing nothing.
