Steps for Engaging in Adoption
Know the facts. Get connected to organizations in your area and do some research on how many foster care children are in your city, county, or state. How many can be adopted? How old are they? What are their needs? Find out what you can.
Look inside your church. There may be people in your church who are already providing foster care, in the process of adopting, or have recently adopted, use them.

Christian Alliance for Orphans
Unites more than 100 respected Christian organizations and a national network of churches. Christian Alliance for Orphan's joint initiatives inspire, equip and connect Christians to reflect God's heart in caring for orphans through adoption, foster care and global orphan care initiatives.
Exists to provide opportunities for young women to experience God's unconditional love, forgiveness and life-transforming power. Mercy Multiplied serves young women from all backgrounds (ages 13-28) that face a combination of life-controlling issues such as unplanned pregnancy, depression, eating disorders and more.
Our goal is to engage the members of our Church in the foster care system in big and small ways while never losing site of the goal to make sure every child grows up in a permanent family.

Bethany Christian Services
A global Christian organization that serves children in more than 15 countries. Bethany provides comprehensive social services that include pregnancy counseling, foster care, adoption, post-adoption counseling and family preservation.
Black Mountain Children's Home
A safe, supportive, Christian environment for children who are dependent, neglected, abused, homeless or otherwise cannot live with their families. The Home's mission is to glorify God by caring for children and families.
CASA (Court appointed special advocates) for children
Together with its state and local members, CASA aims to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused or neglected child can be safe, establish permanence and have the opportunity to thrive. Activities include: training and curriculum, volunteer recruitment, public awareness and more.
Focus on the Family Orphan Initiative
Works collaboratively with state, county, church and adoption agency leaders to help find families for waiting children and youth in foster care. In addition to recruiting families, they are committed to providing best-in-class resources for foster and adoptive families.
Fostering Hope Project
The project's mission is to provide tools, networking and encouragement to anyone who is interested in becoming part of the movement to end child maltreatment and the need for foster care.
Hope for Orphans
A ministry of FamilyLife that educates Christians about God's heart for orphans and encourages them to care for orphans in distress. Hope for Orphans provides simple, practical and biblically based resources to help local churches launch and develop orphans ministries. They also connect and build relationships with key organizations and share those connections with churches as resources.
Institute of Child Development—Texas Christian University
The institute strives to help children who are suffering the effects of early trauma, abuse or neglect. They conduct research to deepen understanding about the needs of abused and traumatized children and then design research-based models for practical interventions that anyone can use to help children heal.
Loving & Caring, Inc.
A life-affirming ministry that provides practical resources, training, encouragement and spiritual renewal to those called to minister to women and their children. Their ultimate mission is to positively affect the spiritual, physical and moral health of the world. Loving & Caring strives to do this by providing materials and services to agencies and Christian ministries that serve teen moms, single parents and families affected by crisis pregnancy.
Offers sanctuary to thousands of children whose parents are experiencing debilitating circumstances. Safe Families provides a safe alternative to child welfare custody. They also provide overwhelmed and resource-limited parents with a safe, temporary place for their child without threat of losing custody.
Assemblies of God Family Services Agency
Assists and equips the Church to win, build and send orphans and unwed pregnant young ladies for the Cause of Jesus Christ. AG Family Services' mission is to provide a place of physical, mental and spiritual safety to children, youth, birth mothers and their infants. Programs include: residential group homes, adoption services and foster care placement.
Golden State Family Services
A foster family agency dedicated to help children who have been removed from their homes and are experiencing related emotional and psychological difficulties. They also prepare foster parents through training and education and provide healing foster home environments to children and adolescents.
Arrow Child and Family Ministries
Helping kids and strengthening families. A Christian provider of child welfare and educational services connecting church and government to serve vulnerable children and families. Arrow Child and Family Ministries believes in providing services in a manner which gives glory and honor to Jesus Christ while also demonstrating respect for religious and cultural diversity.
Bags4kids provides "comfort bags" to children who have been displaced due to neglect, abuse, abandonment. They give these bags to shelters, county offices, resource centers, foster parent agencies and police stations. Bags may also go to families with very limited resources. Through donations, Bags4kids is able to support the mental wellbeing and comfort of children during a stressful time in their lives.
The Bair Foundation
