Going Behind the Scenes at a Joyce Meyer Conference

While you’re watching Joyce on TV in the morning, have you ever thought to yourself, Where is she and who are all those people in the audience? Is it the same people every time? And, How in the world does she have so many funny things happen to her? For instance…

“I’m at the spa, but then I realize I lost my pants—I can’t find them anywhere! I didn’t know what to do. So, I found a robe to put on, and before I know it, I’m wandering through the main lobby looking for help.” Only Joyce.

Maybe you’ve watched Joyce for years and have wondered where all the mauve on the stage went? Or what ever happened to her pantsuits? If you’ve questioned any of these things, chances are Joyce has shared about it at one of her conferences! That’s where so much of the fun happens.

Since 1985, when God spoke to Joyce’s heart and directed her to take her ministry “north, south, east and west,” she has crisscrossed the United States (many times over) and traveled the world, sharing God’s Word in her own practical and relatable fashion.

Over the last 40 years, Joyce’s conferences have certainly changed and evolved, however God’s Word continues to be at the heart of each one.

2020 Changed Everything!

In 2020, when Covid came and swept us all by surprise, Joyce had to switch gears and cancel her conference tour. For two years, she was determined to get the Gospel out, no matter what it took…even if that meant teaching to a camera in the studio (which doesn’t provide much laugher or response).

But after two long years, Joyce is back out on the road, doing exactly what God has called her to do, and there is no stopping her. There’s a fire inside of her—she has two years’ worth of encouragement and truth to share!

“I am so excited to be back!” Joyce recently shared with a live audience. “After we’ve all gone through such a different season, I prayed about the future and wondered what might change. But in my heart, I know that I’m supposed to keep doing what God has called me to do–and that’s teach His Word and help people in every way I can.”

Yes, some things have changed. The last two years have caused us to re-look at everything—how we do things and the ways we reach out to people. But God has done what He does best: He’s taken a difficult situation and turned it into greater opportunities to share His love with people all around the world.

“Teaching the Word is a passion that God has put in my heart, and it’s something I will do for as long as I can. Years from now, you may drive down the highway and see a billboard that says, ‘Granny Meyer is coming to your town!’ For me, it’s a calling.”

Multiplying the Message

In so many ways, Joyce’s conferences are just the beginning. Her messages are recorded and then broadcast worldwide through her Enjoying Everyday Life TV program in more than 100 languages. Within a matter of months, a teaching shared by Joyce in Austin, Texas, can be viewed by people all across Tanzania.

“We receive so many emails from people who tell us that God used something I said to reach them at just the right moment,” Joyce said. “Only God can do something like this. He can give me a message to teach in June that will reach a person at the exact right moment in December or even years later. It’s truly amazing.”
