Discover Who God Created You to Be – Part 1 @tag1>
Unveiling the Power of Your Identity in Christ @tag2>
I’ve lived some very dark times of my own. As I’m sure many of you can understand, my history of abuse left me with some deep wounds. I’ve found that really knowing God and understanding what He’s done for me has been the key to healing in my soul and total restoration from years of discouragement, despair and misery.
And for me, it was the practical truth in God’s Word, the Bible, that brought that relationship with God to life.
There are so many wonderful promises God gives us in His Word! In the book of Ephesians, we discover powerful truths that are foundational to our faith in Christ, such as who we are in Christ and how we are to live as His followers.
Knowing who you are in Christ is important because it gives you the ability to see yourself as God sees you and understand who He created you to be. The more you know this, the more you can completely trust God in every part of your life, and the more peaceful, joyful and fulfilled you’ll be.
Let’s walk through Ephesians 1:4-10 to get some in-depth insight about this principle.
God Loves You and He Chooses YOU!
Ephesians 1:4-6 (AMP) says…
Just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—to the praise of His glorious grace and favor, which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved [His Son, Jesus Christ].
God wants you to know that He has chosen you, and if you will simply believe in Him, you will never be rejected. When you choose to trust His love for you, it gives you confidence to live boldly and without fear.
Think about it: What does it mean to you that God actually chose you to be His own? How does it impact your sense of self-worth, knowing the Creator of the Universe created you and wants to have a relationship with you?
Read Ephesians 1:4-6 again. Another truth we see here is that God knew mankind would sin, yet He loves us so much that He had a plan for our salvation and redemption before He ever created the world we live in. That’s amazing, unconditional love!
Think about it: We all have a desire to be loved and wanted as we are, knowing we won’t be rejected if we make a mistake because we aren’t perfect. God freely offers His love to us without condition…we just have to believe it and receive it. What do you believe about God’s love for you?
