Hold On! Help Is on the Way

God loves it when we ask for His help

Hold On Help is On the Way

Did you know that God is interested in every single detail of your life and that He loves to hear from you?

For years, I felt like I was bothering God with my prayers or, when I did pray, I was certain I wasn’t doing it the right way. However, God never meant for prayer to be complicated.

God desires for us to view prayer as a simple conversation with Him. It’s asking Him to meet our needs or someone else’s. It’s praising Him and thanking Him. It’s talking to Him about everything and anything that matters to us.

Look with me at James 5:16. It says, …The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working] (AMPC).

Prayer is a simple, powerful way to fight the enemy because we release our faith through prayer. When we pray, we open the door for God to come into our problems and situations and work on them.

Now, Satan doesn’t want us to pray, so he will do everything he can to discourage us. He wants us to think prayer is hard or that we’re bothering God with our requests. If we do pray, then he will try to convince us that we didn’t pray the right way or do it long enough to really matter.

The truth is prayer doesn’t have to be long or eloquent. And prayer isn’t necessarily better if it’s loud or if you’re on your knees, folding your hands or bowing your head. Yes, it’s good to humble yourself and come to the Lord respectively, but it’s not your posture or how long you pray that makes it effective.

I remember a time when God challenged me to ask for what I wanted in the least amount of words possible. This was hard at first. For example, when we do something wrong, it’s difficult just to say, “God, I know that was wrong and I admit it. I ask You to forgive me. Thank You, Lord. Amen.”

Instead, it’s common to hear something like this, “Oh, God! I need You to forgive me. God, forgive me. Please, God, forgive me. Oh God, You’ve got to forgive me! Please, God…I promise not to do it again.”

God desires for you to come to Him honestly, with a sincere heart, and just talk to Him as a friend. I believe prayer can be like breathing—easy and natural, talking to the Lord throughout the day about the good, the bad, and everything in-between.

Try not to approach your conversation with God as a “religious activity”—just be yourself and open up your heart to Him, knowing that He loves you and wants you to walk in His great plan for your life.

In Matthew 7:7-8 (AMPC), Jesus tells us, Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.

God loves it when we ask for His help—and He not only wants to help us with our big problems, but He also wants to help us with the “little things” in life as well. Whatever the need, we can approach God with confidence, knowing that He is always on our side.

Hebrews 4:16 (AMPC) puts it so well. It says, Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace...that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

I love the phrase, “well-timed help, coming just when we need it.” It assures me that God will always come through in time, even if it’s not exactly when I think He should do it.

When you’re hurting, in trouble, or when you’re waiting on answers in your life, you need to believe that your help has been sent out from heaven and it is on the way. God may not come early, but He won’t be late. And in the meantime, He will sustain you and keep you strong while you’re waiting for your breakthrough (Isaiah 41:10).

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve hung on to Hebrews 11:6 (AMPC), which says our faith pleases God and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

God is a good God! He loves you and wants the best for you. And as you seek Him for help, He will reward your faith.

Always remember, as a believer in Jesus Christ, you are God’s child, and He is with you. He will never leave you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). He is Almighty God...and if God is for you—if He is on your side—then who can be against you (Romans 8:31)?

So, no matter what battle you’re fighting or what your circumstances look like, know that you have God Himself in your corner. He sees where you are, He hears your prayers, and He delights in coming to your rescue.

Because when you step out in faith and seek God for strength, protection, and answers, you can be assured of one thing—help is on the way.
