No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God.

When doubt and unbelief attack our minds, we can begin praising and thanking God. This will strengthen us and shut the door to doubt. When King David was experiencing some depression and a downcast soul, he spoke to himself, saying, “Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42:5 NIV).

Part of the definition of praise in the biblical Greek is “fair speaking, fine speeches” or flattering speech. It is to “tell a tale” about the goodness of God.

When the devil attacks, one of the quickest ways to get rid of him is to remember and speak aloud of the good things God has done for you. Keep a book of remembrance in which you record the mighty acts God has done on your behalf. When you have a book like this, you will find that the pages will fill up fast, and it will be a great resource for you to turn to when you need to do war with Satan.

Prayer of the Day: Lord, when doubt creeps in, help me praise You. Remind me of all the great and mighty things You’ve done so I can speak truth, defeat the enemy, and walk in Your strength, amen.
