Trust God with Your Desires @tag1>
Adapted from Hearing from God Each Morning
Lord, all my desire is before You; and my sighing is not hidden from You.
God says in His Word that if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us the secret desires and petitions of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). I like that plan because I certainly spent plenty of years frustrated trying to get the things I wanted for myself. In the process of seeking things, we often fail to pursue God and delight ourselves in getting to know Him. Many years ago, I even let that happen because of my strong desire to be in ministry. I thought the most important thing in the world was ministering for God, but I needed to learn that it was not as important as God Himself.
Are you keeping your desires in balance and delighting yourself in God above all else? If not, you can easily make an adjustment by reminding yourself of what is truly important. Place all of your desires before God, as our Scripture for today instructs us to do, trusting Him to remove any that are not His perfect will for you.
Every desire is not from God and therefore every desire we have will not be met, but we can trust God to meet the ones that will work out for our good. God wants you to know that if you ask for something and don't get it, it may be that He has something much better in mind for you. So relax; delight yourself in God; and let Him take care of the rest.
Prayer of the Day: God, help me delight myself in You above everything else. Teach me to trust Your timing, Your plans, and what is truly best for my life, amen.
