Adapted from Quiet Times with God

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God . . . casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].

What a powerful scripture! God doesn’t just invite us to give our cares to Him—He instructs us to. With that in mind, why would we hold on to our worries, our problems, and our cares? The surest way to find joy in our lives is to follow God’s guidelines, and they require us to quit worrying.

The cure for worry is humbling ourselves before God in the realization that we are simply not capable of solving all our own problems and then casting our cares on Him and trusting Him. Instead of making ourselves miserable, trying to figure everything out on our own, God says we can place our confidence in Him. When we do this, we can enter into His rest, totally abandoning ourselves to His care. The promises of God are always obtained by faith and patience.

Prayer of the Day: Lord, I cast my cares on You and trust You with my problems. Help me surrender my worries and embrace Your rest. I know You will handle everything for me, amen.
