At All Times, in Every Situation @tag1>

Adapted from Daily Devotions from Psalms
I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
Notice that David says he will extol (meaning to bless or praise) the Lord at all times. He does not say, “I will bless the Lord when everything is going my way” or “I will bless the Lord when this big problem gets solved.” He’s determined to speak words of praise and exaltation to God all the time, in every situation.
We learn from today’s scripture that David did not allow his circumstances or his emotions to affect his worship. In fact, throughout the Bible, we read stories of people who chose to praise God in difficult situations. God always brought them through those hard times and gave them victory. This is a powerful lesson, and one you can begin to apply to your life today.
If things in your life are not going as well as you would like—perhaps you are facing a stressful situation or dealing with fear, disappointment, or confusion—you may not feel like praising God. But you can choose to praise Him. He is much bigger than any circumstance, and you can praise Him for who He is, for what He has done in the past, for never forsaking you, and for working all things for your good, whether you can see it right now or not.
Emotions are fickle. Don’t let them determine whether or not you praise God. Remember today that you do not have to speak according to how you feel. You may feel a certain way, but you can choose to speak God’s Word in spite of it. That will bring you victory.
Prayer of the Day: Father, I declare that Your praise will always be on my lips. Help me to choose to praise You in every situation, no matter what I am going through.
