Ministry Monthly Update

Dear Friend!

This month, I want to share a truth with you that is really on my heart: Change isn’t impossible — in fact, everything in your life can change . . . When you allow God’s Word to work in your life.

If you want to experience a new level of joy, deeper peace, stronger faith, healthier relationships, wisdom for any challenge you’re facing . . . then first of all, you need to understand that there’s a big difference between knowing God and knowing about God.

Many people go to church, know the right things to say, have Christian bumper stickers on their car . . . but they’re frustrated and unhappy in life. Why is that? It’s because they know about God, but they don’t really know Him. But actually knowing God is the key to living the confident, overcoming, joy-filled life Jesus came to give you.

When I talk to people about this (and share my story of how I went many years without really knowing God), the question that naturally comes up is . . . So, how do I move from knowing about God to really knowing Him?

And the answer to that question is why I’m so excited to send you this letter! Because the key to knowing God is hearing, studying, and meditating on His Word.

I’m not talking about dutifully reading a few chapters a day in order to check off a box on a spiritual to-do list. I’m talking about learning to fall in love with God’s Word.

Many Christians go through life frustrated and unhappy because they’re focused on their problems rather than God’s Word. I can certainly relate to that. For many years, my happiness was totally dependent on my circumstances. I was on top of the world when things went my way. But the moment I faced a difficulty, I was down in the dumps.

I was living a roller-coaster life . . . and it was exhausting. But the more I began to study the Word of God, the more I began to really know Him. It doesn’t matter what the situation may look like around you . . . God’s Word has the final say. And His Word promises that God loves you (Jeremiah 31:3), He is with you (Matthew 28:20), and He has a great plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11). It wasn’t just head knowledge anymore — my relationship with Him began to grow. I began to trust His character and listen for His voice. The more time I spent in the Word of God, the more I learned to trust His promises over my circumstances. His Word has the final say!

This is true in your life, too. Regardless of the situation or even how you feel on a particular day, God’s Word is the truth you can base your life on.

This is true in your life, too. Regardless of the situation or even how you feel on a particular day, God’s Word is the truth you can base your life on.

  • If your child or grandchild is making bad decisions . . . you know that God will get them back on track. (Proverbs 22:6)
  • When finances seem low . . . you trust that God will provide everything you need. (Philippians 4:19)
  • If you are dealing with the pain of a loss . . . you stand assured that God will bring restoration. (Isaiah 61:7))
  • When you feel lonely . . . you are comforted to know that God will never leave you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Your circumstances change from day to day, but God’s Word never changes. It has the POWER to change you and your circumstances.

Just look at what the writer of Hebrews says about the power of God’s Word . . . For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV).

Did you see that? God’s Word can pierce and penetrate every issue in our soul. It always cuts right to the problem. There is nothing God’s Word can’t help you handle.

So, as you think about the different issues you may be encountering right now, understand this . . . God’s Word is living and powerful. Every answer you need can be found in the Word of God.

You really can experience the overcoming, abundant, joy-filled life Jesus came to give you as you discover the power of God’s Word and stand on His promises! There is no doubt about it — the key to knowing God is knowing His Word.

Remember: there is a difference between knowing about God and really knowing Him. Hearing, studying, and meditating on His Word is the key.
