(St. Louis, MO) Detroit residents will come together this Saturday, August 18th, for an event called Together We are Better that aims to provide basic necessities to the people of Detroit. This event is sponsored by Hand of Hope, the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries, along with Word of Faith Christian Center's outreach Operation Blessing. This event will include distribution of diapers and food to local residents, along with free haircuts, face painting, and an inflatable jump house. Activities will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Word of Faith Christian Center.
Joyce Meyer Ministries' Hand of Hope crafted the Together We are Better events as a way to provide local communities with basic necessities, as well as create a fun day for the entire family. "We do these events because we want people to wake up tomorrow feeling a little better about themselves," says Hand of Hope CEO David Meyer." The focus of this outreach is to reach the impoverished areas of Detroit. According to the US Census, 34.5% of residents in Detroit live below poverty level, compared to 14.8% for the entire state of Michigan*.
Saturday's activities take place beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Word of Faith Christian Center, located at 20000 West Nine Mile Road, Southfield, MI 48075. This event is sponsored by Joyce Meyer Ministries Hand of Hope and Word of Faith Christian Center's outreach Operation Blessing.
