ST. LOUIS, May 12, 2010 -
An enthusiastic crowd of more than 150 youth athletes, representing multiple teams throughout the city, will descend on the Russell Training Center to participate in a citywide flag football tournament event sponsored by DC Sports, an outreach program of the St. Louis Dream Center. Billed as the "Ultimate Football Championship," the event represents a rare opportunity for aspiring youth athletes to not only compete, but to also enjoy a day at a world-class NFL facility as the Rams practice field will be divided into three fields for flag football games. In all, ten youth teams will compete throughout the day under NFL Flag Football rules.

Preliminary games begin at 9:00 a.m.
Championship game begins at 3:00 p.m. with awards presentation to immediately follow

Enjoying expanded relationships with the St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Public Schools and the YMCA of Greater-St. Louis, the citywide league began with a vision and one team and, in six years, has grown to incorporate broad participation and member teams from nearly all of the city's middle schools. Established in 2004, through its mentoring efforts, DC Sports provides basketball, football and baseball leagues, as well as instructional camps, for middle school students growing from an initial 65 participants to more than 500 youth representing 16 different public and charter schools located throughout the inner-city.

An outreach arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries, the St. Louis Dream Center was founded in 2000 by Dave and Joyce Meyer to be a healing place for a hurting world.
