Through Hand of Hope, several opportunities await you to share your gifts and time at the St. Louis Dream Center. These outreaches are uniquely designed for your distinct God-given gifts to be used to help restore beauty in St. Louis and advance His Kingdom.
Internship opportunities include a variety of options up to a one-year commitment to service. Each of these opportunities is designed to equip emerging Christian leaders for a lifetime of service.
If the season of life you’re in right now doesn’t allow you to commit long term, God can still use your talents. All of our SLDC outreach programs have needs that can be met by daily and weekly volunteers.
Join us for a day of ministry at one of our special outreaches. This is a great way of introducing you to involvement with the St. Louis Dream Center. A day working at the SLDC works well for leaders in advance of leading a one-week missions trip with their team.
We have opportunities throughout the year designed for churches looking for high impact, reasonably priced, short-term missions trips. A week at the Dream Center provides your team with many outreach options and quite possibly could be a life-changing encounter your people will never forget.
If you’re an emerging leader in the Kingdom, then perhaps you’re ready to commit to a longer period of service.
Many emerging leaders are looking for an experience God uses to shape and direct their future. A one-month internship allows time for God to guide you, while gaining valuable hands-on ministry experience. It is a shorter version of the one-year internship list below.
A one-year internship is designed to shape and equip emerging leaders with the skills and understanding for a lifetime of compassion-evangelism. This yearlong program focuses on the discovery of God-given gifts and a lifetime purpose for followers of Jesus. A combination of hands-on practical ministry, academic study, and leadership development equips students for a lifetime of servant leadership in their local church.
The After School Feeding Program exists to aid underprivileged children in and around St. Louis' 21st Ward. This program provides an average of 90,000 to 100,000 hot meals annually to needy students at four public schools, ranging in age from 3-18 years old.
KidzJam is a carnival on wheels! We bring all kinds of fun activities for kids when the team rolls into their neighborhood. But it doesn't stop there. The day is topped off with a 45-minute program that features group games, worship, and a biblical lesson about Jesus presented in a way kids can relate.
The Dream Center Street Ministry meets both the physical and spiritual needs of homeless men, women, and children on the streets of St. Louis. Several days a week a trained ministry team from the SLDC seeks out the homeless on street corners, under tunnels, in homeless shelters, and group homes. They are bussed to the SLDC for haircuts, showers, a hot meal and church. The love of Christ is provided through practical items such as food, drinks, blankets, and clothing.
Whether it's through the weekly food distribution outreaches, DC Cafe, or even our DC Grill, the goal is to share the love of Christ by meeting real needs of people. By first satisfying a person's physical hunger, we can then address their spiritual hunger. Throughout the week, the St. Louis Dream Center distributes food to the community from the SLDC food pantry. On average, 2000 lives per week are being touched through this practical ministry of sharing the love of Christ.
Weekly our teams visit approximately 600 people living in senior care centers and nursing homes throughout St. Louis. Volunteers share songs, scriptures, and testimonies to encourage the residents and teach about salvation, healing, and the working of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
Adopt-A-Block is an outreach demonstrating God's unconditional love to the St. Louis community through practical acts of service. This includes providing lawn care, delivering toys for Christmas, doing home repair projects, playing games with neighborhood children and much more. We have seen God use this ministry time and again to create supernatural change and lasting impact in the lives we touch.
