Visiting Joplin After the Tornado

by Joyce Meyer Ministries

For an hour after the tornado went through Joplin, Missouri, photos and papers flittered to the ground all over the devastated community. A million memories scattered in a matter of moments. To see the damage the EF5 tornado caused is surreal. We thought we'd seen the worst...that is until we saw the next street and so on. Homes are gone, people have lost loved ones—there is much to mourn.

But, in the midst of the sadness, the people of Joplin are finding hope and a resilience you wouldn't expect.

We're honored to be helping provide relief to this community through our partnership with Convoy of Hope, who's shipped more than 1.3 million pounds of relief and recovery supplies into Joplin. Working closely with local churches, volunteers at four distribution sites have donated more than 8,500 man-hours to help distribute the supplies. We've also partnered with Service International and Ignite Church to provide additional relief and support.

It's something we know we couldn't do without our partners and the faithful volunteers on the ground reaching out to these precious families. And for that we are completely grateful.

Immediate Relief Following the Joplin Tornado

by Joyce Meyer Ministries

Our prayers and support are going out to those affected by the recent tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri. We've partnered with Convoy of Hope, who was one of the first crews on the ground after the tornado flattened most of the city and killed at least 117 people. Many people are still missing or recovering from injuries. The tornado has also left many families homeless.

Convoy of Hope is working to provide vital relief supplies. We've also teamed up with Service International, a St. Louis-based relief organization, as well as Ignite Church from Joplin to provide additional relief and assistance.

How You Can Help:

  • First, we ask that you pray with us that the missing will be found, families will be restored and relief will arrive to all those who need it.
  • Second, please give today! Your donations allow us to reach out immediately after disaster strikes.

  • Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
