Learn About Partnership
Update: Through our partnership with Convoy of Hope (COH), we're continuing to help communities pick up the pieces from the recent earthquake and tsunami destruction.
In the city of Koriyama, population 340,000, COH is working with local churches to establish a warehouse for daily distribution of food, water and supplies to residents as well as thousands of homeless refugees.
Families who lost everything in the earthquake are receiving kits that include refrigerators, microwaves, kitchen utensils, etc. These basic and vital needs are helping families make a new start.
In the Sendai area, where the tsunami damage was the heaviest, COH has made a one-year commitment to provide food, supplies and transportation to assist Japanese churches as they reach out to this region.
Despite the ongoing needs and the rebuilding that's needed, it's amazing to see how your financial support really does make a difference. When we meet the practical needs of hurting people, it opens a door for God to work on their spiritual needs. And when you enable us to partner with reliable organizations like COH, you're a part of making all of this happen!
You can still make a donation to provide relief after disasters like this one in Japan and others around the world.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
As Japan continues to recover from the aftermath of the 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck on March 11, we continue to pray for those affected. But we can't stop there.
Immediately after the earthquake, Hand of Hope began partnering with ministry partners Convoy of Hope, YWAM and Crash Japan to assist those in need through local churches in the affected areas.
We have been able to provide bicycles to the regions most severely affected by the disaster. The bicycles are also being used by the aid workers and pastors to distribute supplies. Additionally, tire repair kits have been provided to work on the bikes as needed. Five thousand hygiene kits including soap, towels, tooth brushes and tooth paste have been packed and shipped. And another 15,000 kits with long underwear, ladies underwear, feminine hygiene items and protective masks are being prepared.
Radiation Has Slowed Relief Efforts
Although some support has been able to reach the people, much is still left to do since radiation leaks have slowed many of the outreach efforts in the country. In fact, continued threats to the stability of the nuclear plants, fear of radiation poisoning, loss of electricity, mandatory evacuations and more have left the people searching for relief.
Pray With Us
So please join us in prayer for those who have lost loved ones, have been injured or have been impacted by this disaster in any way. Here are a few specific requests:
Thank you for your prayers and support on behalf of the Japanese people.
Please consider making a donation to disaster relief efforts today and your support can help us continue to reach out to the people of Japan and other countries affected by natural disasters.
