Partner Testimony: God is Not Finished

by Shon Ford

I grew up without my father and found myself looking for love in all the wrong places. When I was 19, I decided to reach out to him, and because of that, my mother kicked me out of her home.

Suddenly, I had nowhere to go. I was in the middle of college and I had all of these questions. I felt so empty, so lonely, so broken. And I was at the point of getting ready to kill myself because I just couldn’t handle all that was happening.

Watch Shon

One night, I was sitting in my dorm room

That’s when I remembered how my mom would listen to Joyce Meyer. I opened my laptop and searched for the Joyce Meyer Ministries channel on YouTube. I don’t even know the name of the message but I heard Joyce say, “You cannot give up. God is not finished!”

It was just what I needed to hear in that moment. I listened to that message, then another message. And I just kept listening to the teaching, listening to the teaching. It’s like I couldn’t get enough.

Knowing God’s Word makes you “ready”

I started reading Joyce’s books and applying what I learned to my life. She taught me the importance of meditating on God’s promises and speaking them aloud. And as I spent time in God’s Word, I found a promise to live by in Philippians 1:6: …that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

I got involved in a good church, and the combination of all of those things walked me right out of everything I had found myself involved in.

Loving God’s Word, and taking action

If it hadn’t been for this ministry and the power of God’s Word, I really don’t know where I would be. So today I volunteer at the Joyce Meyer conferences as much as I can. Even if I can take just three days out of my year to serve and be a blessing to someone who has helped me so much, why would I not consider volunteering? It’s a no-brainer for me. And I think of all the other Shons who are out there waiting to be reached.

Today, Shon is an active partner with Joyce Meyer Ministries, volunteering at conferences when he’s able to attend. .
