Typhoons Flood the Philippines

Swarms of flood victims wade through waist-deep water.

Recently battered by a typhoon, Manila, Philippines, is experiencing continued rain and thunderstorms. And what’s worse, Super Typhoon Parma is on its way. With waist-high water in most parts of the city and thousands of homes already destroyed, disaster response teams have arrived to set up before things get worse.

Parma comes on the heels of Typhoon Ketsana the past weekend, which left at least 246 people dead as it passed over the Philippines. An additional 38 were still missing, the National Disaster Coordinating Council said. external link

Our Response to This Crisis
Joyce Meyer Ministries is committed to provide immediate disaster relief and that’s why we’ve partnered with Convoy of Hope external link to bring help to the people of Manila.

Food and water distribution points have been set up throughout the city. “Initially, our team will purchase food and supplies in country to stock the distribution points,” says Kary Kingsland, Vice President of Disaster Response for Convoy of Hope.

“Food and water are in short supply in Manila, but we’ll be able to get such items in outlying areas.” Water filtration units, which are capable of producing up to 10,000 gallons of water a day, are being brought in. Also an additional shipping container full of food is being sent out from Springfield, Missouri, this week.

You Can Help Bring Relief
