There is a stunning mountain range called Phu Chee Fah in Chiang Rai, Thailand, which is popular with Thai tourists. On a clear morning, the view of mist-swathed Laos is absolutely breathtaking.
But not too far from here lives a girl who has the special distinction of being abandoned by family three times. Her story is one of many that came during our 2009 Southeast Asia tour.
Sold, Dumped and Dropped Off
Over a year ago, little 11-year-old Nongyeow was abandoned by her family. There were too many children to take care of, so they sold Nongyeow to a couple who didn't have children.
Shortly thereafter, the couple divorced and they abandoned Nongyeow on the street corner.
In desperation, Nongyeow went to find her older sister, thinking she could help. But her sister was getting married and moving to Bangkok. They didn’t want her. So Nongyeow’s older sister gave her a bowl of noodles and dropped her off at the police station.
At the tender age of 10, Nongyeow had been abandoned by her family 3 times.
God Rescues Vulnerable Children
Fortunately, Nongyeow crossed paths with a woman who could help her—Sudaporn. Sudaporn, who runs the Grace Children’s Home in the rural Doi Pui village of Chiang Rai, found Nongyeow on the corner and immediately took her in.
Nongyeow now lives at the Grace Children’s Home where she has real friends and daily food. Most important of all, she knows and loves Jesus with all her heart.
Nongyeow may have been abandoned 3 times by her family—but now she’s part of God’s family. God rescued her and gave her new life.
