On February 7 in Victoria, Australia, bushfires erupted, sweeping across the southern parts of the country and killing more than 180 people. Police say the death toll could reach 300.
“The final count will be left to authorities,” says Economist.com , “who’ll have to sift through the landscape blackened by flames so ferocious that they melted car parts and devoured buildings in seconds.”
This is one of Australia’s worst natural disasters in history.
Our Response to This Crisis
Within days of the fire, Joyce Meyer Ministries gave financial support to Whittlesea Assembly of God to help families displaced by this tragedy.
Pastor Shane Lepp of Whittlesea AOG said, “You cannot know how much of a blessing this is to us. It allows us to buy items like generators, new water pumps, as well as vouchers. Thank you Joyce Meyer Ministries for your wonderful support.”
Over 700 Homes Lost
Over 50 fires ruined entire cities and destroyed hundreds of homes, but Whittlesea AOG is offering shelter to some of the displaced families in a tent city.
Furthermore, food is being sent in, and clothing and blankets are available. But the food is running out, and toiletries like shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant are in short supply.
Two Ways You Can Help
First, please pray for the survivors of this deadly fire in Australia. Pray that we can quickly acquire the resources needed to provide emergency aid to desperate children and families.
And second, donate now to help support our disaster relief efforts, as well as other vital missions outreaches. Your contribution will help Joyce Meyer Ministries provide emergency aid to children and families devastated by this disaster.
