Deadly Floods Hit Northeast Georgia

Convoy of Hope volunteers hand out bottled water and cleaning supplies.

Flooding in Georgia
Continuous heavy rains brought death and destruction to the Atlanta, Georgia metro area last week. Highways and roads—submerged underwater—caused several fatalities among area drivers.

At least 9 people are dead, and 1,000 homes are deemed uninhabitable. Many people have lost everything they own.

Our Response to this Crisis
Joyce Meyer Ministries has partnered with Convoy of Hope external link (COH)  to bring assistance and renewal to those devastated by this natural disaster.

Convoy of Hope was able to send an assessment team from their disaster response office to Georgia soon after the flooding began. “As with all flooding conditions this is a hurry up and wait situation due to inaccessibility,” said Kary Kingsland, vice president of disaster response. “However, our team has been monitoring the storm and has already established points of contact, mapped the hardest hit areas, communicated with partners in the region and is working on a response plan.”

Kingsland says one of the biggest needs is clean drinking water. “Convoy of Hope is being proactive and is sending a tractor-trailer load of bottled water and cleaning supplies to meet the most immediate needs.”

COH set up several distribution sites around the Atlanta area in places such as Douglasville, GA and in Toccoa, GA. The sites are run by coordinated volunteers comprised of local groups, who helped give away much needed drinking water and cleaning supplies.

You Can Help Us Restore These Flood Victims
There are many people who still need help. Many people have had to wait for days to return to their homes, and are just now beginning to put the pieces of their lives back together.

Prayer is definitely one thing you can do for these flood victims. Please ask God to help them during this stressful time. Pray that they will receive the help needed and that, somehow, hope will be restored in their hearts.

The second thing you can do is donate now to help support our disaster relief efforts. Joyce Meyer Ministries is able to serve people who are in crisis and feeling helpless thanks to the generous support of our friends and partners. We thank you for equipping us to reach these hurting people.
