U.S. Conferences

Twenty-Five and Counting

It’s 1982 and Joyce Meyer steps into the pulpit at the Lazy Y Ranch Retreat Center in St. Louis. Looking out at the 65 women in attendance, she opens her Bible and starts to teach, knowing there is no place else she would rather be.

Twenty-five years later, more than 25,000 women from all 50 states and over 40 countries worldwide joined Dave and Joyce at the Edward Jones Dome to celebrate the anniversary of this event—Joyce’s 25th Annual St. Louis Women’s Convention.

Together with special guest speakers Bishop T.D. Jakes and Hillsong’s Christine Caine, Joyce taught on purpose and passion and sent thousands home with a renewed sense of destiny for their lives.

“Things will definitely be different when we get home,” says Arlene, “and that’s what we’ve been searching for. We want to take this to the women of our churches…to the women of Puerto Rico. It’s been life-changing.”

Sobering but Powerful Message
One of the highlights of this milestone weekend was a milestone message Joyce taught on Friday night titled “God’s Passion.” Interwoven with powerful video clips and sobering world statistics, Joyce's teachings focused on the need for each of us to regularly do something to help somebody else.

“I never thought that I could make much of a difference for anyone else,” says Channing from Georgia. “But when Joyce said, ‘Indifference makes excuses, but love finds a way,’ I made a decision that night to begin reaching out…to begin helping others.”

The Secret to Reaching the Younger Generation
Although it’s been 25 years, things at Joyce’s conferences definitely have not gotten stale. Far from it. In fact, worship for this year’s convention was led by the Christian rock band Delirious? and attendees were also treated to special music by CeCe Winans.

In order to better reach the younger generation, these days you’ll find artists like Delirious?, Matt Redman, and Hillsong’s Darlene Zschech leading worship at all of Joyce’s conferences.

“We’re proud to partner with Joyce Meyer Ministries,” says Delirious? lead singer Martin Smith. “She speaks, and God shows up—so we’re in.”

Joyce’s Single Purpose
And God does indeed show up. This past year, as a part of Conference Tour ’07, Dave and Joyce Meyer traveled to a total of 12 U.S. cities. In all, Joyce ministered to more than 360,000 people, with more than 9,400 giving their lives to Christ.

And in each city Joyce spoke, the people found one thing to be true: It doesn’t matter your age or where you are on your spiritual journey—God will meet with you in a personal way.

Everything we offer at a Joyce Meyer conference—from the youthful worship, to the modern stage designs, to the state-of-the-art lighting, sound, and pyrotechnics—it’s all for one purpose: to reach more people for Jesus Christ.

Her Straightforward Style Remains the Same
Adding popular and youthful elements to the conferences is beginning to bridge the generation gap (you may even get a glimpse of Joyce in a pair of blue jeans). But as always, Joyce’s messages are solid biblical truths told in her straightforward style.

“When people leave one of my conferences,” Joyce says, “I want them to be able to look back a year from now or even 5 years from now and be able to say, ‘I remember the change that God made in my life at that particular conference, and I have never been the same.’”

So after 25 years, some things don’t change. Having traveled millions of miles to countless cities all across the country, you can still find Joyce behind the pulpit, with her Bible open…ready to teach another message.

And there’s still no place else she would rather be.
